今回紹介するのは、北海道洞爺湖町の隣、壮瞥町に位置する『オロフレスキー場』です。このスキー場は、温泉で有名な登別市に抜ける道道2号線、オロフレ峠の途中にあります。コースは緩斜面から急斜面まであり、全部で4本。また、1日券に加え、2時間券や4時間券といった選択肢があり、気軽に楽しめるのは魅力の一つ。今回、北海道に日本海側に大寒波が到来しているタイミングで訪れてみました。
今回参加してくれたのは、“ニセコ ダウンチルクルー”のTeppei Hirota。彼とともに、特殊な環境のオロフレスキー場を滑ってきました。
This time, I’d like to introduce "Orofure Ski Area", located in Sobetsu Town, next to Toyako Town in Hokkaido. This ski resort is situated along Route 2, known as the Orofure Pass, which leads to the famous hot spring town of Noboribetsu. The resort offers four courses ranging from gentle slopes to steep runs. One of its highlights is the flexibility of ticket options, including full-day, 2-hour, and 4-hour passes, making it easy to enjoy at your own pace. I visited the ski area during a significant cold wave that brought heavy snowfall to Hokkaido’s Sea of Japan side. Joining us this time was Teppei Hirota from the Niseko Downchill Crew.
この日はニセコ周辺のスキー場が強風のためクローズ。『オロフレスキー場』到着時も吹雪と強風でリフト運行が心配でした。
On this day, ski resorts around Niseko were closed due to strong winds. Upon arriving at the ski area, we were met with a snowstorm and high winds, raising concerns about whether the lifts would be operating.
オロフレスキー場も1日中雪マークでしたが、雪が降り続くものの、。風は他より弱めリフトは運行中とのこと
Orofure Ski Area was also forecasted to have snow throughout the day. Despite the continuous snowfall, the lifts were fortunately in operation.
スキー場には我々二人しか辿り付いておらず。徐々に風がおさまる予報だったので、ゆっくり準備を整え、ゲレンデが良さそうなタイミングを見計らい、2時間券を購入。
When we arrived at the ski area, we found that we were the only two people there. With the forecast predicting the wind to gradually subside, we took our time preparing and waited for the optimal moment to hit the slopes. Once the conditions we purchased a 2-hour ticket.
全面新雪で覆われたスキー場が目の前に！
The ski area before us was completely blanketed in fresh snow!
圧雪箇所と非圧雪箇所の境目が見分けられないほど雪が積もり、ゲレンデ全体が真っ白に。貸切の贅沢な状況で、いよいよゲレンディングスタートです。
The freshly fallen snow had buried the boundaries between the groomed and ungroomed areas, leaving the entire slope a pristine white canvas. With the luxury of having the slopes entirely to ourselves, it was finally time to start our gelending!
まずは急斜面のAコースを滑走。上部は斜度緩めで、起伏が続く地形。
We began with the steep A Course. The upper section offered a gentler gradient, with undulating terrain.
新雪に覆われた最後の斜面は最高のコンディション。爽快感抜群でした。
The lower section of A Course, blanketed in fresh snow, offered perfect conditions. The exhilarating sense of freedom was unmatched.
その後、各コースを順に攻略していきました。Bコース。レギュラーの壁が続く地形が楽しいポイントです。
Next up was B Course—a fun run featuring continuous wall-like terrain.
そこからDコースに合流。Dコース下部は緩斜面で、新雪の影響でスピードが出ず、ひたすらチョッカリで滑り降りました。
From there, we merged onto D Course. The lower section of D Course is a gentle slope, and due to the fresh snow, we couldn't pick up much speed.
続いてCコースへ突入。スピードをつけてオープンバーンへ。
Next, we headed into C Course, building up speed as we entered the open slope.
後半はコース端にグーフィーの壁が続きます。ただ今回の新雪ではCコース後半は少し物足りない速度感でした。スピードがあれば楽しく遊べる地形。
The latter half features a continuous stretch of walls. With the fresh snow this time, the second half of C Course felt slightly lacking in speed. With more momentum, it’s a terrain that could be thoroughly enjoyable to play on.
Aコース中盤の迂回路を経由してCコースへ入る。迂回路にも壁地形。
Taking the detour midway through A Course leads into C Course. Even the detour features wall-like terrain.
その後ハーフパイプ跡の地形が出てきます。
Afterward, we enjoyed riding on the terrain that once a half-pipe.
この日のコンディションで一番滑りごたえを感じたAコースを再び滑走。Aコース上部、Dコースと交差する箇所で落ち込みジャンプ楽しみました。
The most satisfying course of the day in these conditions was the A Course, which we decided to hit again. At the upper section of A Course, where it intersects with D Course, we had fun with jumps.
新雪と地形を存分に楽しむ。最高！
We fully enjoyed the fresh snow and terrain.
2時間で全コースのノートラックを滑り切りました！
今回の『オロフレスキー場』は、全面非圧雪という特殊な条件で滑ることができ、さらにほぼ貸切という体験でした。圧雪されている状態なら、スピード感がさらに増し、違った楽しみ方ができるコースも多い印象です。次回は、圧雪されたコンディションをぜひ楽しんでみたいと思います。

This time at Orofure Ski Resort, we had the rare opportunity to ride under completely ungroomed conditions. On top of that, the experience was practically a private session. If the slopes were groomed, I believe the speed would increase even more, offering a different kind of enjoyment on many of the courses. Next time, I look forward to experiencing the groomed conditions.
