REVIEW
日時：2022年1月中旬 / 天候：雪 / 雪質：降雪中
群馬・嬬恋の鹿沢スノーエリア。整備された11本のコースと、日本の内陸・標高1350〜1850 mを活かした人工降雪機による“雪づくり”で、圧雪の気持ちいい中斜面が広がるスキー場です。
ピステンバーンを存分に味わえるのが魅力……そんな「圧雪推し」の場所に、今回はあえて“その逆”、高晴天率（約80％）の裏をかいて、新雪20％のチャンスを狙いに行ってきました。
Kazawa Snow Area in Tsumagoi, Gunma. With 11 well-maintained courses and a layout that takes full advantage of its inland location and elevation (1350–1850 m), the resort offers smooth, groomed mid-angle slopes supported by extensive snowmaking operations. While it’s known for its beautifully groomed pistes, we deliberately flipped the script this time—aiming for that rare 20% chance of fresh snow instead of the usual 80% sunny days.

この地域には2日間にわたって雪が降り続き、到着時には更に15cmほどの新雪が積もっていました。
Snow had been falling in the area for two straight days, and by the time we arrived, about 15cm of fresh snow had accumulated.
しかし、よく見ると所々で地面が見えている箇所も。この降雪がなければ、コース端などは滑れない状況だったかもしれません。
Looking closely, we could still spot patches of exposed ground. Without this snowfall, it might’ve been difficult to ride along the course edges.
メインのホームコース沿いには、ずらりと降雪機が並びます。中には、圧雪車に降雪装置が付いているものも。
Lining the main home course were rows of snowmaking machines—including some snow groomers equipped with built-in snowmakers.
この日はスキー大会が開催されており、ショートコースとエース＆リリーフAコースの一部がクローズされていました。
A ski competition was underway that day, resulting in the closure of the Short Course and parts of the Ace and Relief A courses.
エースコース。半分以上が大会で使用されていましたが、見た目にも気持ちよさそうな中斜面。
The Ace Course—mostly occupied by the competition—still looked like a beautiful mid-angle run.
この日は新雪が圧雪の上にも乗り、ゲレンデ全体が非圧雪のような状態に。以前はセンターコースのさらに上にも滑走エリアがあったようですが、現在は閉鎖しています。
Fresh snow had blanketed the groomed surfaces, making the whole resort feel like a giant ungroomed run. It seems there used to be more terrain above the Center Course, but it’s currently closed.
センターコースへアクセスする第5ロマンスリフトも動いていなかったため、旧センターBコースへは歩いてのアプローチに。（このコース名はスキー場の公式MAPには記載されていませんが、滑っているラインは何本もありました。）
Since the No.5 Romance Lift, which accesses the Center Course, wasn’t operating, we hiked our way to the old Center B Course. (This course isn’t labeled on the official trail map, but there were clearly several rideable lines.)
開けた気持ちの良いオープンバーン。
A wide-open slope with a great sense of space.
雪もしっかり溜まっていて、滑りごたえありました。
Snow had accumulated nicely, making it a satisfying run.
そのまま進むと、リリーフBコースに合流。
Continuing down brought us into the Relief B Course.
こちらはリリーフAコース。リリーフBと共に比較的緩やかな斜面。この日のように新雪が積もると、ややスピードが出づらい印象です。
Relief A, with its gentler gradient, felt a bit slow under the fresh snow conditions that day.
コース終盤には、グーフィーの壁地形が待っています。
Near the end of the run, a fun wall feature awaited us.
その後はライトAコースへ。普段は圧雪バーンが心地よさそうな斜面ですが、この日は一面パウダーコンディション。
Next, we dropped into Light A. Normally a smooth, groomed slope, it had turned into a full-on powder field this time.
ライトBコース。
Light B Course.
コース端に残ったパウダーをしっかりと堪能。
We fully enjoyed the powder left along the course edges.
ライトコースの下のセカンド、ファーフトコース、その隣ホームコース共にスピードに乗って、気持ちの良いクルージングが楽しめます。
ホームコース
Below the Light Course, the Second, First, and adjacent Home Courses all offered fast, flowing cruising runs.
今回、鹿沢スノーエリアでは珍しい「新雪20％の日」をしっかり当て、コース全面でパウダーランを満喫することができました。次回は晴天の日に、名物とも言える美しい圧雪バーンを味わいに、また訪れたいと思います。
今回は少し偏ったゲレンディングになってしまったかもしれませんが、機会があれば是非。
This time, we hit that rare “20% chance” at Kazawa Snow Area perfectly and enjoyed full-on powder runs across the entire resort. Next time, I hope to come back on one of its signature sunny days and savor those famously groomed slopes. This visit may not have shown Kazawa at its most typical, but if you get the chance—definitely give it a go.
